EMERALD BAY BEGINS DRILLING OPERATIONS AT LACOMBE, ALBERTA

Calgary, Alberta, December 16, 2008 – Emerald Bay Energy Inc.(TSX Venture: EBY) (“Emerald Bay” or the “Company”) today reported on recent drilling activities in Central Alberta.

CHIGWELL, ALBERTA

Drilling operations have commenced at Lacombe, Alberta (Township 41, Range 26 W4), and management anticipates that it will take approximately seven days to drill two wells to an approximate depth of 710 metres per well. Zones of interest will be the Edmonton Sand, Horseshoe Canyon, and Belly River. Emerald Bay is the operator and is expected to have a 25% working interest in both wells.

Commenting on the program, Shelby Beattie, President of Emerald Bay, said: “Lacombe could become a core area for the Company. We escalated the drilling schedule to get at least two more wells drilled, logged, cased, and cemented before Christmas. Drilling operations will continue in Q1 of 2009 at Lacombe.”
